Workshops

       Each of my three workshops provides a unique blend of yoga, nutrition, and lifestyle guidance to help students discover which foods and practices can help them live healthier, happier lives. I combine my education in exercise sciences with my knowledge and experience as a 200hr certified yoga teacher and an integrative nutrition certified health coach to educate, illuminate, and empower people to take their health into their own hands.

 

        My workshops are three hours long, and are broken down into portions (the time can be adjusted to fit your audience’s needs):

-15 min introduction about myself, sharing names, goals, and handouts.

-60 min yoga practice, with postures promoting the topics we are addressing that workshop.

-10 min break where I will provide snacks: dates, raw nuts, and a healthy choice of a protein bar.

-80 min discussion about health, lifestyle, and yoga postures specific to the subject matter.

-20 min gentle asanas, breath work, and centering meditation.

Workshop #1:

 

Your Map to Wellness: Energize Your Body, Control Cravings, & Clear Your Mind for the New Year

 

Does your energy crash, leaving you feeling tired and depleted? Are you having trouble with mood swings, sleep, and staying focused? How do you choose the perfect diet that supports your unique self out of so many competing nutritional theories? How can you make healthy eating a lifestyle rather than a phase?

This workshop will help you kickstart your health goals for 2019. You’ll learn to distinguish the foods that are nourishing your body from the foods that are weighing you down and fogging your brain. When it comes to food choice, it’s very individual: different people can metabolize the same type of food in different ways. Find out how to detect your food sensitivities to solve many of your health issues.

Listening to your body and understanding the hidden signals is key to a healthy living. You will learn how to acknowledge certain cravings and find out what deficiencies are causing them.

Through discussion, mindful postures and guided meditation, in this workshop you will:

  • Begin with an hour of yoga practice that includes grounding postures, hip openers, twists and bends to detoxify and assist the digestive system (appropriate for all levels).

  • Discover some of the most popular nutritional theories and how to choose what really works for your personal needs.

  • Uncover some of the hidden foods that could be causing you health problems.

  • Learn how to increase your energy level and develop a positive approach towards life.

  • Find explanations to why you crave and how to control your cravings.

  • Understand first Niyama (Yogic principle for living) which is Saucha (purification) and how to consciously work on surrounding yourself with a pure, clean environment that nourishes your mind and body.

  • Understand the second Niyama Samtosha (contentment) and how to find inner strength and discipline to help you resist cravings in general and free yourself from unnecessary suffering.

  • Explore the different types of yoga and find out how to determine what classes work better for you depending on the day to help you reach a more balanced way of life.

  • Set intentions to keep you connected to these healthy practices all year long.

Workshop #2:

 

Health and Wellness at Home: Yoga, Healthy Living, and Conscious Eating

 

Do you want to make better healthy choices for you and your family, but not sure where to start? Do all the different labels and products at health food stores overwhelm you? Are you struggling with finding time to plan and prepare healthy nutritious meals?

This workshop will include a step-by-step plan that brings health and wellness into your home. It will include detailed information about time management and what to add to your daily routines.

You will learn how to plan home cooked meals around your busy schedule, as well as some recipes and tips to help substitute fast foods and snacks for healthier choices. You will discover how to maneuver eating out while choosing wisely and still enjoying your meals.

Learning how to analyze and understand food labels will open your eyes to hidden ingredients that must be avoided when buying packaged foods to make sure you fill up your pantry with nutritious choices.

You will also learn how to shift your relationship with food from enemy to friend, and change your attitude towards diet from a goal to a journey and a lifestyle. You will explore what works for you while allowing yourself to focus on the concept of nourishment, rather than deprivation.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Begin with an hour of yoga practice that includes heart openers and postures that improve intuition and inner vision.

  • Discover how to introduce healthier choices to your diet and substitute empty-calorie foods with nutritious, nurturing options.

  • Learn how to plan your meals and prepare your food while on a busy schedule.

  • Have a plan to keep you on track when you’re eating out or at social events.

  • Uncover the hidden ingredients that should not be in your packaged food and learn what other alternatives are in the market.

  • Understand Aparigraha (non-grasping or non-attachment). How many times do you get stuck on a goal that you stop enjoying the journey itself?

Workshop #3:

 

Boost Your Immune System: Yoga, Diet, and Lifestyle by the Seasons

 

How is your food affecting your immune system? How can you nourish your brain and nervous system? How should the different seasons affect your food choice?

You will learn how to boost your immunity through changes in your diet and daily routine. We all know that a healthy diet can prevent heart disease, obesity, and diabetes, but it is time to address the effects of an unhealthy diet. For instance, empty calories and environmental toxins can lead to brain starvation and neurological conditions.

In this workshop, you will learn about the relationship between nutrition and seasonal changes and find out how to strengthen your immune system by selecting the appropriate types of foods for each season.

In this workshop you will:

  • Find your inner courage with an hour yoga practice that includes heart openers and powerful warrior postures.

  • Learn how to prevent diseases and strengthen your immune system through food and lifestyle.

  • Discover what foods nourish your brain and help prevent neurological conditions.

  • Uncover the effects of an unhealthy diet on your mind and body.

  • Learn how to select suitable meals for different seasons.

  • Learn how to practice the fourth Niyama (Yogic principle for living) which is Swadyaya (self study): what is your self telling you? Are you in constant movement or are you taking time to slow down and self observe?

  • Understand Ahimsa (nonviolence): How can you practice self care with compassion? What better way to practice nonviolence than to nurture your body and surround yourself with a positive environment?
